This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is located in Brooklyn and serves Pre-K to 5th grade. The majority of young learners at our New York City school receive free and reduced-price lunch. Our first-grade class is made up of 25 goofy, kind, and bright students.
Not only are the students exciting to be around, but they are also some of the most caring, hardworking, and curious first graders who act daily as change-makers, bringing a multicultural lens into the classroom.
As their teacher, I strive every day to motivate my students to achieve their highest potential through music and imagination!
My Project
My students will be studying women's history in March and I wanted to provide them with insight about current lady leaders and change makers. This book will give us a chance to learn about Malala and her struggle to share her voice.
This book will empower and encourage my students to learn about different cultures and experiences around the world.
More specifically, this will give them a chance to understand the struggles girls and women still face today.
This is a project near and dear to our hearts and we appreciate your support and generosity to public school classrooms like us looking to continue pushing ourselves to learn and read culturally relevant books. Thank you!
