Making Words and Shapes

My Students

My students are an amazing group of individuals. They come into the classroom excited and ready to learn. I am making a project that will not only benefit my students but the entire Kindergarten wing. These kids are creative, imaginative, and always thinking outside the box.

Our school is a Title I funded school which means over 80% of our students receive free or reduced lunch.

They come from many different backgrounds some from single parent homes, grandparents raising them, divorced families, and even some who live with several relatives in one house. Despite this they come to school willing to learn and with a smile on their faces. I feel it is up to me to make sure that they are given experiences that will help shape the person they are going to be, sometimes it is a hard task to accomplish on our own.

My Project

My students are very hands-on they love making words using a different variety of materials. Letter stamps are something that I do not have enough of in my classroom and these would really help my students to their learning to a higher level. They will be able to construct words, identify alphabet letters and sounds, and also form shapes with the shape stamps.

One of our standards that is very hard for my students to grasp is building shapes from other shapes.

With the stamps my students will be able to experiment to see what different shapes can be made using a variety of other shapes. With these donations I know my students will be better able to show that they are learning and understanding what they are asked to do.
