Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

This time of year, every teacher is counting down the days! I want to give my students an unforgettable end of the year party. It is always a bittersweet moment when teachers say "good-bye" to their class. This year, I will be shedding a few tears. Over Christmas break, I lost my mother. I cannot say enough about my students who have shown kindness and empathy. Some days I struggle with grief, but my wonderful students have helped me tremendously. Who knew 6- and 7-year-olds could offer their teacher so much love and compassion. I would like for us to make tie-dye shirts so we can all wear them at the end of the year. In addition, I want to make our end of the year party something they will never forget, because I will certainly not forget them.
