Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are scientists, mathematicians, readers and authors, and explorers. Our students make discoveries each and every day. Our students are budding world leaders and the world changers of tomorrow.

Our goal is to expose students to many learning opportunities that will prepare them for the future, all while bringing to the forefront ideas and concepts that they may not have considered before.

They need literature resources to tie to our Earth Processes STEM unit to expand their knowledge and to make connections to the world around them. We maximize individual potential and ensure that our students succeed in a global community.

My Project

These resources will allow my students to make connections with their Earth Processes and Changes Unit to historical fiction literature. This specific book, I Survived the Japanese Tsunami, 2011, will be used during our natural disasters sub-unit and will give my students an inside look into what life is like during natural disasters. These events are not familiar to my students, as they live in Arizona, and tsunamis are not natural occurrences. Although, there are tons of sites throughout our state that they will be able to tie their knowledge of earth changes and natural disasters to during their studies of the tectonic past in Arizona.
