My Project
Trick words are words that are difficult to spell either because the students do not know the rule they follow, yet, or they are spelled different than they sound and it needs to be memorized. These words are important in the process of learning how to read. Think of the word "the"- the e does not follow the short or long "e" sound. And now think of how often "the" is found in a book. For these reasons, our students need to practice and know these words fluently.
What better way to practice and learn than to to it in a fun and novel way!?
My students love to learn in new ways. I would love to provide them with chalkboards and chalk to practice these trick words in a way that is engaging.
