My students need a center that helps explore science, math, and provides sensory input.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have the privilege of teaching the greatest group of preschool students who are eager to learn, and get to do so through play. My room is an early childhood special education class, with students ranging from 3 to 5 years of age. Our students have disabilities that vary widely, including:
Developmental Delay, Down Syndrome, Speech / Language Impairment, and Intellectual Disability.
We have a happy bunch of students who have fun and are always reaching out to learn about the world around them.
My Project
Our students need and want to learn about the world around them. They're curious! And I would love to provide them the tools, materials, and sensory equipment they need to learn about all sorts of concepts, like cause and effect, beginning mathematical awareness, the environment, animals, and also provide them with the sensory input they need.
Here's where you can help: we need to finish creating a science center in our classroom.
The materials included will help with gaining an understanding of properties of light, motion, color, and buoyancy. The engineering kit will help with an understanding of cause and effect, which is a major concept in cognitive development. Other materials such as the discovery tubes and the kinetic sand will help not only with cause and effect, but will provide sensory input. With your help, the students will be able to explore this world we live in, which will help them in their cognitive and mathematical development (which are two of the six domains we work to develop in our special education classroom). Can you help?
