This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The elementary school we attend is a place where students want to come to. Every visitor feels welcomed and the teachers here love their students. Our district is special in that every single student is offered to eat a free breakfast.

My students are a fun energetic group of 1st graders who have learned so much throughout this year.

They are excited to come to school eager to learn regardless of how hard some of their home lives are they know that they are safe at school and they can have fun and be a kid.

Students come into the classroom and one of the first jobs they do is pick where they would like to sit. Followed by a morning meeting where they get to share with the class different class building topics. This gives them a safe place to share and brings our class closer together daily.

My Project

Our First grade class is asking for Math Centers to help increase our engagement and learn math skills needed to build our number sense. We are asking for Teaching Number Sense Activity Center which helps with building our skills in numbers, counting, comparing numbers, and base 10 are the foundational skills needed to extend our learning.

More math centers to engage all learners no matter their current level in number sense.

Another center we are asking for is Math Activity Stations Complete Set for grades 1-3. This set includes measurement and data, geometry, money, fractions, place value, and time. More skills needed to build on with hands on learning to internalize numbers.

We will use the math stamps to come up with our own number sentences as well as the base 10 stamps to practice base 10. The place value blocks will be used when students are learning about place value and then practicing the skill in centers. This will be great to have hands on learning to manipulate the blocks. Another great pack is the Math Start stories geared for grades 1st through 3rd which goes over key topics the students will need to learn about. Having a class set of plastic coins will benefit the students instead of using paper these will last for years to come. We will use all of the materials during Math stations, whole group math, and guided practice.
