My Students

Our close-knit Title I school is located in a beautiful country setting. The students are energetic, curious and work hard. The parents are positive and the community is a great resource of support. Each day the students come into school hoping to have fun, make friends and learn. Many of them love to be challenged. They enjoy the feeling of accomplishment in everything they do.

The student athletes that come out for my team are 7th grade girls who are eager to learn the game of volleyball.

Starting at 7th grade girls are eligible to try out for competitive volleyball for the first time.

My Project

The donations to this project will help our modified volleyball girls improve on their skills. In 7th grade, the girls are eligible to try out for a modified volleyball team. It is their first year of playing a competitive sport. They are excited to learn and eager to play. With the use of the setting training aid, the girls will be able to practice their setting skills, learning to keep their palms off the ball and creating the hand position they need for the perfect set. The net string will be used by the girls when putting up the nets to place them at the right height so that they are aware of the height they need to keep the ball to pass it over to the other team during game play.

The mini volleyballs will allow the girls to work independently on their skills.

With these mini volleyballs, each girl will learn to move quickly and perfect both their underhand and overhand passes as well as hitting skills to get ready for game day. The girls will need to move quickly to get their bodies behind the ball to square up with the net to make their passes complete. The girls will benefit from these items by improving on their volleyball skills that will help them become successful volleyball players.
