My Project
As a science teacher in a Title I school, I find my students are faced with many challenges both in and out of the classroom. Unfortunately, the struggle with basic needs like shelter, food, and clothing has placed a heavy burden on most students' minds. However, they all have big dreams of success, going to college, and becoming productive citizens.
Although my students have a strong desire to learn and are very hard-working, a deficit they possess as a whole group is the ability to take ownership of their learning and stretch their thinking to new levels.
I wish to provide my students with opportunities that will allow them hands-on engagement with materials to better create an environment where they feel connected, important and heard.
These trash can basketball hoops, sports themed stress balls, pencils, stickers, and classroom posters will be materials used to create an engaging atmosphere where students will be able to feel like they have a safe, fun, and relatable environment. Our classroom theme is Making the Dream Work with Teamwork and these materials will be a great way to enforce that motto!
