Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students in my classroom this year are going to be fifth graders that will benefit from access to a well rounded curriculum.
Fifth grade at Vintage Magnet School come from a diverse background and, along with that they are able to offer their wealth of knowledge into the classroom discussions.
They are critical thinkers and thrive on the livelihood of their classroom. They enjoy taking ownership of their learning and look for challenges within the curriculum presented that will further their educational experiences.
My Project
Storyworks is a subscription magazine offered by Scholastic that puts every genre into the hands of each student in the classroom with every issue. It is aligned to the ELA standards with multi-step lesson plans that offer differentiation into a sometimes somber curriculum.
Student engagement will soar with the access set forth in this diverse curriculum.
Stories and articles are offered at multiple Lexile levels and have the ability to be customized for the individual student.
Storyworks exposes the students to articles that are short and relevant to today's times. Therefore allowing the students to take ownership of their learning and keep them engaged in culturally relevant reading materials.
