Making STEAM Fun for Second Graders

My students need a book called, "Awesome Science Experiments for Kids: 100+ Fun STEM / STEAM Projects and Why They Work" and a futon to engage in hands-on learning activities to learn more about STEM/STEAM.

My Students

My students are very lovable, outgoing and hardworking second graders.

They are passionate and excited about learning, just as I am about being their teacher.

I teach in a Title I school, where about 90% percent of my students are English Language Learners and come from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds. 100% of my students receive free breakfast and lunch.

My Project

Once a month, I would like to have my students create and make engaging STEM/STEAM projects in my second grade classroom.

I plan to use the requested book, “Awesome Science Experiments for Kids: 100+ Fun STEM / STEAM Projects and Why They Work" to help guide my instruction so I can get ideas on how to create more engaging and interesting activities and projects to help my students learn more about what STEM/STEAM is. This book is filled with lots of wonderful hands-on activities so my students can fully understand more science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics.

The requested futon will allow my students to stay more focused while brainstorming ideas together on which projects they wish to recreate. Most importantly, my goal is for my students to be able to brainstorm their own unique projects they want explore more about. The futon will allow my students to be flexible and sit relax while enjoying cooperating with classmates. Thank you in advance for helping my students.
