Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Dig a little deeper. Think of something that we've never thought of before." -Winnie the Pooh.
My third grade magnet students are enthusiastic, creative, focused, and enjoy a hands-on approach to learning.
They like working in collaborative groups and are motivated to do their very best. They attend school in a low income area, and the entire school is on a government funded free breakfast and lunch program.
My Project
My students are concerned about their future on planet Earth and are limited in their understanding of the problems facing Earth. Their main solution to Earth's problems is to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Through the Environmental Science Kits, they will learn about the environmental problems facing life on Earth and explore possible solutions. Some of the activities in the kit are constructing miniature water treatment plants, manufacturing recycled paper and plastic, developing an understanding of the rapid growth in the world population, and becoming "energy detectives" at school and at home.
Wow!
What a wonderful hands-on approach to learning! My students will be challenged to dig a little deeper and make discoveries that will impact their lives as well as the lives of others at school and at home.
