My Project
My students are second and third graders in a self-contained Autism classroom. Focusing on schoolwork and transitioning from one activity to another can dysregulate students if they don't have an outlet that enables them to center themselves, keep calm, and focus their energy.
Sensory experiences and visual learning are the best ways to harness their attention, enable them to communicate and understand, and get excited about learning.
Having soothing activities incorporated into the curriculum and also sandwiching those highly preferred sensory activities in between learning tasks gives students with Autism something enjoyable to look forward to and assists with learning.
