My Project
My students are from a Title I school and all come from backgrounds of various degrees of trauma and cultures. My students are very much kinesthetic and visual learners, so they learn best by being able to physically manipulate objects and see what is happening in order to understand why math works the way that it does.
By donating to my fractions project, you will allow students the chance to visualize, manipulate, and gain understanding of what fractions are and how they work through the use of Cuisenaire Rods.
These materials will be used in both whole group and small group lessons to teach children fraction names; addition, subtraction, and multiplication of fractions; as well as learning about mixed numbers. My goals are for students to gain an in-depth understanding of fractions to help them master their 4th and 5th grade standards.
