My students are motivated and full of energy. I want them to be able to channel that energy into thoughtful projects, unique ideas and the development of teamwork skills.
One of the things I love about working with my students is witnessing their desires to be in charge of projects, to create, to make discoveries, and to make a difference.
They want to do their part to make the world a better place. My school represents a diverse population with many languages spoken by our families. It's an exciting place to be. We are a Title I School, so there is always a need to bring in resources and provide our students with a variety of experiences. My students are always excited to learn, especially when we are doing hands-on activities that allow them the freedom to create, problem solve, and experiment.
My Project
With help from DonorsChoose, I’m hoping that I will ultimately be able to provide one-to-one Chromebook access for my students. If every student has a Chromebook to use, we can use programs like Pear Deck and Google Classroom, which promote classroom engagement and digital collaboration. With reliable access to technology, students can do more projects like creating websites, developing Ignite Presentations, participating in citizen science, and connecting with people and resources around the world. Furthermore, students will be able to continue learning coding with SCRATCH, Finch Robots, and Micro:bits.
Students need to learn how to be digital learners by creating, engaging in digital collaboration, safely expressing themselves, and solving real-world problems using technology as a main tool.
As a teacher of students in the gifted and talented education program, it is important for me to challenge my students with new ideas, technology, and projects. For my students, Chromebooks in the classroom are keys to infinite learning opportunities.
