My students need exciting books to engage them in seventh grade science!

My Students
When teaching Middle School every day I hear, "Why are we learning this? When are we going to use this?" I hope that you will team up with our classroom so that I can answer these important questions for my students. This year in seventh grade we are learning about different human body systems and genetics. To make this relevant to my students I am raising money for a book that will make this information come alive.
They are a vibrant bunch of students who have life experience that speaks volumes into how they act and react in every day situations.
Students at my school are generally from a low socioeconomic area and many are on free or reduced lunch. Our everyday consists of questions and attempts to grow their want of learning and curiosity to help them succeed academically.
My Project
The book House of the Scorpion, follows the life of Matt, a clone, and discusses how he was created, what his value is, how he is seen in society and how he will escape the life that was planned for him.
Using this tool students will be asked to stretch their imaginations and their research skills to learn about what is happening in science today.
To discover how our body systems work, how we can or can't share pieces of us to save another. They will dig into what it would be like if we could clone, humans, organs, they will debate whether we should or shouldn't be making this medical advances. Please donate to help science come alive in the classroom.
