Making Reading Fun!

My students need a CD player with a headphone jack so they can listen to books quietly, Kindles to read and listen to books, and stools for flexible seating.

My Students

My first grade students are full of energy and love to learn new things. Most of my students are below first grade reading level, but this does not stop their love of books and learning.

These students need all the support they can get.

A few of the students are placed in foster care, and the majority of them come from a broken family. They come to school to have a regular routine, feel safe, and to have fun.

Our school is a low income school district and does not have a lot of technology options for our classrooms. There is one laptop cart for K-5 to share. There is a very limited amount of Ipads for K-5 to share.

My Project

Students learn how to read through good modeling. That is exactly why I could use a CD player with a head phone jack so my students can listen to audio books quietly without distracting the students in the classroom.

Kindles in the classroom would give them an alternative way to read.

Some students are more motivated when technology is involved. The read aloud books on the kindle will benefit my struggling readers.

The stools will provide flexible seating for my energized first graders. Most dislike sitting upright in chairs. This will give them something different and a little more comfort.
