Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
One of my favorite quotes is from Julia Child - “Find something you're passionate about and keep tremendously interested in it.”
This is how I feel about teaching and I want to inspire that same passion into my students for learning.
My students are an amazing mixture of backgrounds, learning styles, and talents.
They love to experience education through collaborative groups, games, and technology.
My school's driving theme this year is Mind, Body, Soul. We are striving to make sure the students needs are met in each one of these areas. We serve a wide community of low-income families so one way we are able do this is by serving breakfast to each child in every classroom. This ensures that they have a full belly before we dive into the day and begin working on the mind.
My Project
With technology being a driving force in our society, I feel it is extremely important to incorporate it into the classroom as much as possible.
An iPad is a great way to engage students and make learning feel more like a game. With an iPad there are many free apps available to build reading and math skills. My school is fortunate enough to have an online reading program however, with only 3 computers in my classroom it is hard for students to get access very often. With an iPad, I will have another place for students to strengthen their reading skills as well as their technology skills. This will be a wonderful resource for my students who are familiar with the technology as well as a benefit for those who don't have much access to technology at home.
This donation will help to improve my students' skills academically, their love for learning, and their engagement with technology.
All of which will prepare them to leave my classroom and be successful in the future.
