This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Imagine walking into school each day and speaking a completely different language than you do each day when you get home, than you have for the entire summer, or maybe your entire life. This is the reality for many of my students.

I teach at a Title I school in Maryland where the majority of students receive ESOL services and speak another language while they are at home.

These students are respectful, hard workers, and eager to grow as learners.

My Project

As English Language Learners, my students are constantly working on their academic and social language in all subjects throughout the day. I would like to provide my students with boogie boards in order to engage them in their learning and make it "fun."

With such a rigorous and challenging curriculum, I am constantly looking for ways to make word work and language learning more engaging for my students.

By providing my students with the opportunity to use boogie boards during their reading rotations, writing centers, and other subjects during the day, I can increase their motivation and turn learning into something they want to be a part of!
