Making Reading and Writing Fun to Practice

Help me give my students Beanies Decodable books that we can use in our reading groups to practice segmenting and blending sounds, and reusable LCD writing boards to practice our word formation!

My Project

Reading and Writing are key to everything we do in second grade. Exploring new stories in our small reading groups and finding interesting ways to practice writing means more time spent segmenting and blending sounds and helps our sight/sound recognition. Improving our ability to decode and comprehend word sounds improves our chances at understanding word meaning, making us more independent learners!

As a Title I Elementary School, our students have a diversity of skills and abilities to accommodate.

Meeting all learners with diverse material that is appropriate for their current learning levels and also showcases representative models builds confidence and supports curiosity.
