Making Reading Accessible for All! Wanted: High-Interest, Dual Language Resources

Help me give my students reading resources that helps our students develop the skills to be better members of society. It allows students to improve their overall comprehension and critical thinking skills, learn empathy, and have unlimited adventures.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. A.'s classroom raised $609

My Project

I want to provide ALL my students with high-interest current and topical reading materials. I am requesting Scholastics: Upfront Magazine targeted for 9-12 grade at level, Action Magazine targeted for grades 6-12 with reading levels of 3- 5th grade, and Ahora Spanish language magazine targeting students 7-12 grade at level 2 Spanish. The magazines requested will increase the resources needed to teach my students from all backgrounds with a mix of abilities and capabilities. The addition of Action and Ahora magazines allows students with challenges reading English at grade level to have resources targeted to their needs. I have to use technology to teach and speak to students in English, Spanish, and French. Although my students appreciate my efforts, they lose interest and focus on teaching three languages with the assistance of technology. I use Google Translate to record while I teach English; I then play my instruction/ lesson in Spanish and French. These magazines would allow me to have smaller group instructions rather than try to reach all in every lesson at the exact moment every day.

Yes, there is a world of information via the Internet, but it's also great to interact with scholarly magazines that you have within your hands.

Remote learning was challenging for most, and students are now requesting time away from their Chromebooks. As a passionate reader, I would appreciate a print copy of reading materials rather than an e-copy.

My only option for offline reading is to make paper copies of readings from my books for classroom use. I will go through many copy papers by the end of the school year. Please help my students and the environment! I would love it if you helped my hard heads get hard copies in their hands.
