This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a high poverty school where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch! I have high expectations that they will grow and learn beyond what is expected. We are learning skills such as robotics, coding, and typing along with our curriculum. School is a safe and happy place for my students. Each day, they come into the classroom excited about the day and spending time exploring and learning together. For many of my students, being at school is the best part of their day.

My Project

Many of my students do not have access to computers at home. School is their only opportunity to use this technology. Students can use the color printer to obtain the materials desired for them to learn in the classroom.

The opportunities for my students will be endless from creating game boards, vocabulary cards, pictures and other educational needs inside the classroom.

Projects like these help our students explore their creativity and guide them in being accountable for their own learning.

Another reason we would like a color printer is for math. When I print out graphs for my students in black and white, they have trouble deciphering the graphs. It is hard to tell which color of grey belongs to which items. I want to have a reliable printer, so my students would not stress over comprehending math concepts due to lack of colors.

As teachers, we go through so many copies, but we are usually limited to black and white. My fourth graders need color to get their attention and to explore their creativity!
