My Project
This year my school has included a thirty minute time every day called Flex period. This is an opportunity to have teachers share personal interest or hobbies with students. This has become one of the best times of the day for everyone. Students sign up for activities that seem interesting to each of them. It is a time to build relationships between the adults in the school and the students.
As a science teacher I am wanting to show students how used paper can be repurposed.
We will take discarded paper from the class, turn it into pulp and then use the screens to make sheets of new paper. "The Papermaker's Companion" will give us ideas so we can become more creative with our paper making. This is a real world example of how "trash" can be recycled and used again. Students will then be able to use the new paper to complete their own personal art projects. This may also lead to bigger group activities in the future.
