Making Our Statements STICK!

Help me give my students the art supplies needed to distinguish themselves from the pack with custom embroidered patches, stickers, and buttons made by the students themselves. With your help they can make their statements STICK!

My Project

As the only elementary art teacher at FES, I have made it my goal to continue to provide new and exciting art lessons that are out of the norm for our students. With new trends coming and going so fast, sometimes it's nice to see trends that once were familiar coming back around. After participating in a Dick Blick art project at our AAE conference last year, I knew that this would be the project to inspire and excite my students with a new (old) trend!

Unfortunately, however, as an art teacher in a low socioeconomic area, my budget doesn’t always cover the supplies needed for these fun, new trends.

This year I would like to change that, at least once.

In the past, patches were used throughout many cultures for many reasons from military identification, to sports teams, to symbols of counterculture. Now, patches are back and they are TRENDING as a way to show ones uniqueness, thoughts, and beliefs.

Donations to this project will give my students a much needed outlet to express themselves in a fun, safe way. Each day I am moved by the individuality of my students. I witness their unique expressions and emotions unfold through the powerful medium of art.

With these art supplies, my students will be able to express themselves in creative and unique ways. Using the mounting film, patterns, and various threads, the students will be able to create patches that can then be transformed into buttons to be displayed on backpacks, jackets, purses, and more as a way to show their individuality, tastes, and beliefs. When done, they can find the perfect surface and make their statements STICK!
