This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing fifth graders that attend a Title I school in Hawthorne, CA. My students have unique strengths, but one thing they have in common is a strong love of learning. Although they may not have a lot of resources to keep up with the ever changing world, they are always up for the challenge of learning something new.

In this class, we build a community of lifelong learners.

My students are constantly working hard and eager to learn. We are always working in small groups at the carpet or at their desks, or sitting together at the rug, and this year it is going to look different.

I want to make the classroom, in person and virtual, the best environment possible where my students can express themselves creatively and be exposed to all sorts of learning experiences.

My Project

These materials will help make a huge difference in my kids' distance learning experience! They'll be able to follow along on their whiteboards, just as we would do in class, if we were in person.

Distance learning requires us to adapt-making sure our students have the materials they need, and have fun learning from home.

I want to buy my students whiteboards, as well as water colors and paper. I would love to make sure that my students are able to follow along on our lesson, and take out their whiteboards to answer questions and show them up to their screen. Also, I want to be able to do painting days and family projects where they use their watercolors to express themselves.
