Making Our Classroom a Home

Help me give my students a refreshed and comfy learning space with a new carpet!

My Project

I teach an awesome group of 4th graders who bring so much energy, curiosity, and heart into our classroom every day. We spend a lot of time together learning, laughing, and building community.

I want our classroom to feel like a second home—a place where my students feel comfortable, safe, and excited to learn.

Over the summer, my classroom got brand new tile floors, which look great! But now, we no longer have a large rug for students to sit on—and the floor is hard and cold. I’m hoping to get a big classroom carpet so we have a soft, welcoming space for morning meetings, read-alouds, partner work, and quiet reading time. A rug might not seem like a big deal, but it really makes a huge difference in how the classroom feels. It helps define a cozy gathering space, reduces noise, protects our new floors, and gives students a comfortable spot to connect and learn.

Why It Matters:

I want my students to feel at ease in our classroom—to feel like it’s their space too. A rug helps us do that. Right now, we’re sitting directly on the tile for floor time, and it’s just not the most comfortable or inviting. A nice, soft rug will turn that area into a warm, homey space where kids can focus, collaborate, and feel good about being at school.

Thank you for helping us make our classroom a more comfortable and joyful place to learn. We’re so grateful for any support!
