Making Our Books Strong

Help me give my students books that have been repaired to last and a way to find new books.

My Project

My students love to read and have favorite books that are hard to keep on the shelf due to wear and tear that needs to be repaired. We need a way to quickly and permanently repair these books so we can keep them available for our students.

Repairing books with a thermal binding machine will be a high-interest event for my students in the library.

They will love seeing the process of using the book repair machine to melt glue to hold the pages in the book. This will lead to many discussions about what glue is made of, how books are made, and just as importantly, what they can do to keep our books in good shape.

We also need a way to indicate new books that can be removed after a few weeks. NEW! will be printed in bright red on the removable labels so students can easily find the newest books. Then we will remove the labels when other new books replace them.

The traffic cones will be used for many purposes to indicate traffic flow, line up locations, and bathroom passes.
