Making Online & Face To Face Instruction Accessible For All!
Help me give my students headphones, a document camera to instruct them in real-time, and a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card to allow me to purchase Boom cards.
My Life Skills/Autistic Support classroom is made up of 12 students from low socioeconomic backgrounds and ranging from kindergarten to third grade.
My classroom's unique design provides a highly structured school day with targeted, individualized learning opportunities in a sensory-friendly environment.
Students come to me with a wide variety of abilities, challenges, and interests which impact their individual learning. The students in our classroom learn best when they are engaged in lessons that involve manipulatives, games, technology, and active movement.
Due to COVID, I will be instructing my students both virtually and face to face. The items I am requesting will help me provide a meaningful and accessible learning environment for all students.
My Project
This year brings all-new challenges when it comes to providing a safe, fun, and engaging learning environment.
With all the uncertainties of this year, I am trying to provide resources that will meet each child’s needs.
Through Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards, I can purchase Boom cards. These are online resources that will allow my students to complete digital, self-checking, and interactive activities for math, reading, social studies, and science. Students are shown one question at a time and get instant feedback. Students will use these both at school and at home to reinforce the skills being taught. The Boom cards will provide individualized instruction for my students.
In addition, I would like to provide my students with headphones to use in our classroom, as well as at home with their individual tablets. Headphones will provide a distraction-free learning experience, so my students can fully focus, concentrate, and work at their own pace.
Lastly, a document camera will assist with not only in-person instruction but also with online learning. The document camera will allow me to instruct students in real-time as I demonstrate various skills. As I work with math or reading manipulatives the students will see me do the worksheets and lessons in real-time.
