My Project

I currently teach 5th-grade reading and writing in an urban Title One school community. This year I will have a total of 40 students. All 40 of these amazing students come from different backgrounds and a way of living. I believe all students should be able to escape the struggles of everyday life while in school. This is why in my classroom we focus on community and building each other up. I had the pleasure of teaching this well-motivated and determined group of students in 5th grade. The breakfast and lunch meals are free, and the surrounding areas are low-income housing. The children I work with are provided with special education needs. Being able to provide a comfortable seat, or even a seat that will assist in their rocking disability, makes for a successful day!

My goal is to create an environment that caters to the learning needs of all students.

If this project is funded it will help me create a classroom environment where my students will feel comfortable, valued, and productive. Our school doesn't receive much funding so if funded this project will brighten my student's day and ensure they enjoy having a cozy and calming place to learn.
