Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a very unique role at my campus teaching Music, Art, and STEAM classes. My students see me 2-3 times a week and with that extra time we have been able to foster a deep understanding of the arts with my students. They are humble, kind, and caring toward each other. The students in my classroom support each other in their learning, taking an active role in teaching each other concepts being discussed in my class. My kids know that when they walk into my room they can put down their guard to dance, sing, and create with us.

My students are very inquisitive and eager to learn about the marvelous world of music and art.

This year, after Hurricane Harvey, I have noticed a strong shift in the culture of my classroom and community. Students, families, and staff are fully supportive of our endeavors in Music and Art and encourage their children to explore these new talents. Together we have built a Fine Arts program that is appreciative and loving of the Arts.

My Project

My school uses Quaver's Marvelous World of Music for our curriculum and my students ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. They love coming to music because they know it's going to be fun, challenging, and exciting. Each lesson is highly interactive and includes MANY smartboard activities and games that are designed to practice and test their skills.

If I had a set of Kindle Fire tablets for my classroom, my students would be able to access these activities and games at a self-guided pace.

Since I also teach Art and STEAM classes, my students could also use these tablets to take pictures for drawing, search for inspiration, and access books about music and art.
