Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; show him how to catch fish, and you feed him for a lifetime." My students are ready to soar into their futures with a little guidance from teachers.

Our school is 100% free breakfast and lunch.

Most of my students do not have computers at home, which means students need to learn about technology and resources in the classroom. My students are Gifted and Talented grades 2-8. They come from all across the city to go to school here. The students want to learn more then what is in the curriculum. They want to learn life skills. A lot of my students are interested in online gaming. They love Minecraft, but do not understand how to this to make money or a salary.

My Project

Being Gifted and Talented my students want to learn more then any text book offers them. My students have read and done reports on Bill Gates and Steve Jobs and want to know how these men made money doing what they loved! I want to teach my students about financial literacy from the aspect of making money from a computer. It would be great to teach my students how to code and game with a computer that can handle it! The students realize how a game can make you money by selling the game, but who notices product placement, me. There are so many ways a simple game or app can make money and start the students off on a financially stable life. With the computer and mouse students will be able to investigate games and try to work together with how they are making money off of them. The Chromecast will allow students to broadcast to the class so everyone can see it at the same time. Plus students will be able to video chat with video design.

It is my goal to have students understand how producing or designing games and apps can make a profit off of having fun while doing it.

I would love the students to realize how they do not have to go into careers that already exist but can use their knowledge of making money and put them to things they are passionate about.
