Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In my classroom, I want to create lifelong learners. My students come into the classroom every day with excitement about learning something new. They come from low income families who struggle with providing the essentials such a warm meal. Their enthusiasm for learning is contagious. About 90% of the students at our school receive free or reduced-price meals.

My students are eager to learn and absorb the information presented to them.

I believe I am teaching future leaders of tomorrow.

My Project

My sixth grade students are currently studying a unit based on the human microbiome. They are so blessed to be using the Amplify Science Curriculum to guide their explorations.

Due to generous donations in the past, my students have access to the digital curriculum during class time.

I have a class set of Chromebooks that the students use to read articles in the curriculum. These articles come with amazing graphics to further explain scientific concepts.

Unfortunately, the majority of my students do not have a device at home with internet access which they can use to complete the homework which is often similar to the articles we read in class.

In order to accommodate my students' needs, I print those articles out for them so they can still read them at home. It would be greatly beneficial if the students could see the images in the articles in color. It would truly make the concepts they are reading about come to life and improve their comprehension of the article. We need printer ink to make this possible.

The Chromebooks they use in class need to be cleaned, and I would love to provide them with wipes to keep their screens sanitary for daily use.

There are many anchor posters I use around my room. The posters are placed high on the wall. They would be more effective if I could point to them using a laser. We need batteries to keep my laser in use.
