Making Memories by Modeling Molecules

Help me give my students the opportunity to model chemical compounds with modeling kits to help them visualize the shapes and angles that atoms make when bonding together.

My Project

There are many different types of learners in my classroom. One of the vital teaching tools I use in my classroom is modeling and visualizing concepts being taught in class. In my current position, I am a chemistry teacher. One of the topics that students struggle with is visualizing chemical molecules and the three-dimensional space that the atoms take up. By providing students with a modeling kit, students will be able to make molecules and visualize the bonding between the atoms. The hands-on activity will give my students the opportunity to have a different learning experience and increase their chemistry understanding.

These modeling kits also give my students an opportunity to build relationships with their peers.

While making models of different chemical compounds students will be in a collaborative environment and help build meaningful conversations and memories that will last a lifetime.
