Making Mathematics Engaging with Technology

My Students

I teach 8th grade math at an urban middle school in Houston, Texas. Technology is a major component in student lives, especially teenagers. My goal is to make mathematics more engaging for the students I serve by implementing the use of technology. Students in my class would benefit from exposure to educational content through technology in effective and engaging ways. My students are often intrigued when I implement popular electronics in our math class, since they have not been exposed to these modern methods of teaching before.

My Project

With an Apple TV, I can project math problems from an IPad. I can teach lessons while freely circulating the classroom. Students will be able to solve problems on the iPad or even mirror their own device to share educational content for the whole class. Although my campus is not one to one with technology devices, using Apple TV can positively promote use of technology in my math classroom and make mathematics more engaging for students. The use of technology motivates students to participate and contribute in math class. Using a wireless device saves time and makes technology more accessible to students.
