Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Change the lives of 18 children for good. Give them something that not only will help them grow academically, but socially as well.

97% of my students go home every night to an empty house, with nothing to eat, no electricity, and no one to help them do their homework.

Their time in school is really the only time they have to eat, feel comfortable, and to learn. Their time in school is precious, not only for their academic growth but their social growth as well. This is why I have to capture their attention and motivate them every second I have them in my presence.

My Project

Research says that students these days are coming out of high school having very little skills with cooperative learning paired with a lower math understanding than what is needed to progress our society. These math games will be able to help both of those targeted weaknesses. Students will be practicing their math skills using hands on activities, while also learning to work together. These are skills that will better their academics as well as their social future: our country's future.

My students need to know that there are people out there that care about them.

They need to know that if there is something they need, they can work hard for it and if they try, they can get it. Receiving this grant will show my students that there are people in the world that care about their education and about them. I want it to inspire them to think beyond themselves, just as you are!
