This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a wonderful group of 3rd graders on the west side of Indianapolis. My classroom is rich with diverse learners. My students are energetic, kind, and resilient. Despite challenging home lives, my students come to school eager to learn every day.

All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Many of our students' parents work odd hours to provide for their children. However, no matter what is going on at home, they always do their best when they come to school.

My Project

My students love to do math. They also love using manipulatives to learn. However, my students need a lot of guidance and scaffolding to build upon their skills. My students are performing well below grade level in math and need engaging materials that will help them reach grade level expectations. I will use these materials during our guided math time. Students will work on these high quality learning activities and centers while I meet with small groups. Having these materials will change and enhance the way that I am able to teach math and my students' confidence in math will grow!
