Making Mathematicians One Manipulative at a Time!

My Students

My students come from high levels of poverty. Most, if not all, are eligible for free breakfast and lunch. Often they come to school unprepared but willing to learn.

They are young, intelligent, and energetic and the world is theirs for the taking but with a lack of resources and constant budget cuts in Philadelphia it is hard for them to see their self-worth.

I want to offer them all they deserve and prepare them for the life they are destined to lead.

My Project

The use of whiteboards is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math.The whiteboards allow me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. Most times students spend their time perfecting the different formats than the actual math itsself. The pre-written white boards will cut down on that time. Cards are another daily use. I use them for centers and can change the game for almost any math standard. The possibilities are endless and my students love learning new games not realizing how much math they are utilizing.

By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.

In addition, I also requested partitians. This is the first year we've used tables instead of desks, but I'd like to give the option of privacy for any student that may need it, or for formative assessments throughout the year.

Students will be able to focus and reach their potential.
