This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I am proud to be the teacher to 40+ inquisitive and adventurous 5th grade students in the City of Syracuse. My teammate and I share 2 sections of 5th grade and they all see me daily for Math instruction. My students come from the inner city and despite the challenges they have at home, our classroom is always bustling with positive energy and a thirst for learning new content. My students love and learn best with hands on project based learning.

My Project

My students are immersed in Personalized Learning throughout their day. While their content and lessons are differentiated and personalized, their workspace is not. I believe that our classroom should be conducive to collaboration, communication, and critical thinking. Rows and groups of desks just don’t lend to

The wobble cushions will give my students the comfort to work on the floor with me during our small group direct instruction.

While working in their independent or collaborative center, students love to literally put their heads together. The comfy floor seats will provide students with a special place to sit while working independently or with a buddy.
