This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
"I am just not a math person"-It is a phrase I hear time and time again. It saddens me that students and even adult believe this. It is my passion to have students come into my classroom with a different mindset. I want my students to see that their ideas matter and have value.
With these materials, my students will be able to display their mathematical thinking as they work collaboratively with their peers.
I have seen that when students are giving these non-permanent surfaces, their anxiety decreases. They are able to write their math thinking and erase it with ease, making the pressure to be "right" instantly decrease. And for students to do their math thinking, out of their seat, with their peers adds immediate engagement and buy-in!
