My students need math activity stations and blocks focusing on key concepts such as fractions, geometry, money, time and measurement along with a magnetic place value set.
Children do not always understand the importance of math. My goal is to help my students see how we use math in our every day lives and better understand its importance while helping them become independent problem solvers.
On May 22 my students' lives were changed.
An EF5 tornado destroyed more than 60% of our students' homes along with the neighborhood that surrounds our school. I want to provide my students with as many opportunities for success as I can.
I have a class full of eager third grade students who are learning to set goals and achieve them. My students have overcome many obstacles outside of the classroom. I want to help them tackle any learning obstacles they encounter in the classroom by providing a variety of engaging math materials. The time my students spend in the classroom should be meaningful and fun. All students need a classroom environment where their individual learning needs can be met. We all have different strengths and weaknesses. Having a variety of engaging small group and station materials will help me foster my students' strengths and provide focused practice that will help close their learning gaps.
My Project
These materials will support the individualized, focused instruction my students need. These interactive materials will give my students an opportunity to count and add money, practice place value, find equivalent fractions, and solve word problems. The materials I am requesting are place value, fractions, time, measurement and geometry activity stations, a set of giant magnetic place value blocks and a math in minutes skill building center.
Students need to work in cooperative groups, problem-solve and use higher-order thinking skills daily in order to gain the knowledge they need for their future.
These materials will help my students do that! These engaging materials will be used in whole class lessons, in teacher-led small groups, in math stations and in my after school learning center.
