The kindergarten students in my class amaze me. They come from a variety of backgrounds and truly represent diversity in the fullest meaning of the word. Together, not only do my students represent many different cultures, races, and ethnicities, they also speak several different languages - some students speak multiple languages. My students also face challenges and adversities everyday. Eighty percent of the students receive free or reduced meals. Forty percent of the students are English Learners. These kids work hard to be successful.
Each student brings a unique set of cultural assets to our classroom.
We have created a strong learning community where all students are celebrated and can growth exponentially.
My Project
These math tools will make a difference in students' learning by offering opportunities for hands-on learning experiences. Students will be able to use these materials in many different ways - guided discovery, math centers, "I'm done" bins, whole group learning, assessments, and during free play time.
Young children learn so much by doing things for themselves.
Having resources like these available in our classroom will benefit many kids in many ways. By using math learning tools, students will be exposed to many math concepts like number sense, one to one correspondence, representing numbers, patterning, sorting, attributes, similarities and differences, etc.
