Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a public school located in Washington Heights in Manhattan. We have a large hispanic, special education and English Language learner population.
The vision at our school is that all members of the school community will be treated with equality, dignity, and respect.
We must engage students actively in the learning process while they are working to achieve their full potential as competent, respectful, socially responsible citizens. We must facilitate academic excellence by enabling all students to attain maximum academic achievement.
My Project
Hands-on-learning is essential for students learning and especially growth. As we are trying to make our smallest minds more mathematical, we need more fun, engaging and hands-on-materials to make mathematical more magical and engaging. We have worked on making time each math period to have a time for students to have this interactive time. Unfortunately, we don't have a ton of materials and these would be a great start for our students to have materials for this time. All students would be engaged in these activities and would be used for years to come. I know how special these materials would be for our students.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
