My Students

Each morning we start our day with music and movement to get everyone refreshed, energized, and ready to start their fun day of learning. The day's goals are explained and the students are shown how they will meet these goals using fun hands on learning activities.

I have 20 students who are ages 3 to 5 years old and being an inclusion classroom means students with varying disabilities (speech delays, behavioral concerns, sensory disorders, etc.) are mixed in our classroom; these students are not segregated at all they participate in all activities all day.

The other students in my classroom, who are not diagnosed as having a disability, are from low income families allowing them to qualify for preschool in my classroom. We teach our students that they are a school family and everyone at school is friends and are to be respected. This group of students are really nurturing, accepting, curious, and excited to learn.

My Project

Each day, my students work in small groups on a verity of topics such as literacy skills, motor skills, language skills, and math skills. This instant learning centers would provide great hands on activities for all the different learners in my classroom. It would be a fun way to teach new concepts and provide a twist on topics we already teach exciting the students who need the practice and those who need the challenge.

This project would allow my students access to materials to practice early math skills to allow them to be more successful the following year when they move on to kindergarten.

Being that all of the students in my classroom are either developmentally delayed in a variety of areas or come from low income families, they need this head start in learning to allow them to be not only successful but confident learners, as well.
