Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am so fortunate to teach 21 wonderful second grade students. My students are so kind, hardworking, respectful, and creative. All but a handful of my students qualify for free/reduced-price lunch. Many of their parents are working multiple jobs just to make ends meet. My students are faced with their first hardship prior to even walking into the classroom. However, that does not deter them. They know that education is the way to end poverty, so they embrace every learning experience brought forth and do their very best!
Many of my students are also English language learners.
They speak a different language at home than they do at school. Therefore they are tasked with learning English as well as second grade curriculum.
I am really fortunate to have such wonderful students. They really are amazing kids.
My Project
Math games are a great way to help students improve their mathematical thinking and increase math fact fluency. Math games keep the students engaged, allow them to work on their social skills, all while working towards achieving standards!
These math games are so fun, students won't even know they're learning!
Sequence helps students practice addition mentally. Snap it up helps students practice basic math facts. Whereas, 4 Way Count Down teach students the foundations of algebra! I know what you're thinking... all this from games? Yes! Students want to win, so they are highly motivated to do their best!
