Making Math Engaging!

My students need educational games and art supplies such as pencils, games, and paper so I can create a variety of math activity choices. Students enjoy drawing out their solutions and playing games to reinforce the skills that are being taught.

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I am going to be at a new school this year where a 100% of the student population is economically disadvantaged. I would like to give my new students the same opportunity to analyze who they are as learners and utilize their strengths to show evidence of their learning.

Students can be so creative in the ways they show their understanding when you give them the a supportive learning environment, the materials they need and the opportunity to do so.

I have had students perform a rap, cheer or song, create a board game, create an electronic slide show, make 3D models and the list could go on and on. Their imaginations are limitless!

My Project

The materials I am requesting will help me create math activities that the students can choose from to boost areas of weakness. Many times they don’t even realize they are practicing math skills they need to work on. They are just having fun!

I want to make math instruction as individualized and engaging as possible.

Students enjoy being able to draw out their solutions and play games to reinforce the skills being taught. The games and paper, pencils, notebooks and scissors included in my project will be useful when designing math activity choices that appeal to all learning styles. The magnetic graph paper would be very useful when I am demonstrating strategies or for students to show their work so all can see.
