This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

There's no substitute for firsthand experience. Manipulatives give students ways to construct physical models of abstract mathematical ideas. The requested math manipulatives from Lakeshore will allow my students to have this firsthand experience.

Math manipulatives build students' confidence by giving them a way to confirm their reasoning.

If students have physical evidence of how their thinking works, their understanding is more robust, deepening their conceptual understanding of mathematical concepts. Students with deep conceptual understanding are then able to confidently and successfully apply their knowledge to math tasks and build math fluency.
