This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In English class, we are beginning to read the memoir of a holocaust survivor, and will be doing research on World War II. Students are engaged with the story and can research and apply what they are learning to their lives.
With the additional Apple iPad, Magic Keyboard, and Apple Pencil, students will be able to make connections in real time as we learn about historical events and make connections with world events and their own lives.
We will continue our unit and will also need to research other important figures who have fought for equality and justice, such as Cesar Chavez, Harriet Tubman, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, and Malala Yousafzai.
I am in awe of students' openness and sensitivity to these important topics. I strive to bring my students a love of literature as well as an understanding of others, mixed with compassion and an open mind. With the additional technology for classroom use, we can create projects, conduct research and bring this material to life in our class. We are also going to apply these lessons of tolerance and understanding to the important work of learning to appreciate and value our differences. We are a diverse school and I strive to bring diverse subjects to our students to help them understand other perspectives.
Access to another iPad and keyboard with an Apple Pencil will provide additional access to technology.
