My Students

Open our eyes to Shakespeare with graphic novels!!

I teach high school students with special needs in a high-needs urban area.

My students are amazing, and they love to learn! Many of them are visual learners and benefit from graphic novels, which help with reading comprehension, especially with difficult texts.

My Project

I am requesting a set of fantastic graphic novels of Shakespeare's Macbeth. They include the full original text, with beautiful illustrations that capture the reader's imagination and allow the reader to see on paper the action, emotion, and drama of the play. I am also requesting additional graphic novels - with the same layout and illustrations - that have modified versions of the text.

These graphic novels will give all my students access to Shakespeare!

Students can use the visuals to gain understanding of the text, and they can use the alternate versions to "translate" some of the more difficult sections. Once they are able to comprehend Shakespeare, the magic, mystery, and murder in Macbeth will captivate my students!
