This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students range from Pre-K to fifth grade. We are a low income, elementary school. Our kids are active and love learning. They have lost a lot because of Hurricane Harvey and I am trying to make this year special. I want them to be excited to come to school. Art can be a great way to motivate kids to do better and learn new things. It can also be used to help heal what they have lost. With new art supplies, I can help them in all areas, like math and reading. They are so appreciative of everything they receive and would really love your support.

My Project

I want to show my students that art is so much more than pens and paper. My students have been through a lot this year with hurricane Harvey. My goal is to give them the best year and show them all the great things they can do with art. I started as a young child crocheting and doing needlework with my grandma. I want to share that same special time with my students and introduce them to these amazing forms of art. I hope to open there eyes to this special activity and maybe even give them something special to talk to their grandparents about.

We are requesting muslin, embroidery hoops, embroidery floss, and crochet hooks!
