Making Library Dreams Come True

Help me give my students a library area where they have many options to transport them to places that exist between the pages of books - places where beginning readers dream of experiencing.

My Project

The classroom that I inherited belonged to someone who taught math, so the library was very limited. I brought all of my personal books for this age group, but the classroom library is not as nice as I would dream it could be for my students. I was able to purchase a bookshelf, but it is still incomplete as far as the amount of books I can provide for them.

I would love to fill our library area with books and add a cozy area for everyone to enjoy reading, both to themselves and to listen to the teacher read aloud.

Nothing is more important to me academically than to teach my first graders to read and to develop a love for reading that will last throughout their lifetime.

My students have grown SO much this year in their reading abilities. A lot of students were unable to read basic CVC words and are now enjoying reading at a level I had only dreamed of. Giving them even more books to choose from to help develop their love for reading would be an amazing gift for them, which also makes it an amazing gift for me.
